New Lady Knight of the Order of Alexander the Great
The Museum of European Art, Clarence, N. Y. celebrated the Grand Opening of the Sculpture Garden of Alexander the Great, at the Museum of European Art, Clarence, NY., on Sunday, September 7th.
Guests were welcomed by Consul B. John Zavrel, founder and director of the Museum, and by Joe F. B. Bodenstein representing the European Art Foundation, Berlin, Germany.
Mr. Zavrel is also Chancellor of the Order of Alexander the Great.
The Order of Alexander the Great is dedicated to the international promotion of Freedom, Justice, and Peace through the cultural union of Science and the Arts, without regard to race, sex, or creed. It's seat is located at Schloss Nörvenich, a 12th century castle in Germany.
Each Member or Knight of the Order is to live his or her life, in public and in private, in accordance with the "Spirit of Alexander" and to support the cultural goals of the Alexander Order to the best of their ability.
To celebrate the occasion, the Museum of European Art presented “Art Metropolis” featuring the work of thirty artists from Europe, the US and Canada. Canada was represented by Eleanor Pauling, James Culligan, Judy Gray, Carol-Ann Barrett, and Noel Martin from Owen Sound, with Kent Wilkins from Tobermory, all associated with Bridges Art Gallery, Owen Sound.
At a Banquet that evening, Eleanor Pauling and James Culligan, were inducted as Knights of the Order of Alexander the Great by Mr. Joe F. Bodenstein of the European Art Foundation, Berlin, in the presence of Grand Master Dr. Wilson Greatbatch and Chancellor B. John Zavrel.

Opening night with Mayor Ruth Lovell
On December,7th.,07, Bridges Art Gallery was officially opened by the Mayor of Owen Sound Ruth Lovel. The guest of honour was Consul John Zavrel, Founder and Director of the Museum of European Art, Clarence,NY. and Chancellor of the Order of Alexander the Great.
The celebration was attended by 170 friends and patrons of the Arts, who enjoyed fine wine, delicious food and the haunting music of harpist, Tara McKenzie.
